Coming from a family of avid dog lovers, I qualified as a Veterinary nurse and started my career working in a small animal practice before taking a position with the Auckland SPCA and more recently Dog Control NZ.   During this time, I began my journey with the Swedish Vallhund when a handsome little man of legendary Viking heritage walked into my arms and into my heart.  Needless to say, I have been hooked on the breed ever since and have been championing them inside and outside of the show ring over the last 20 plus years.

Working as a veterinary nurse has shown me we tend to be the ambulance at the bottom of a cliff whether purebred, pedigreed or crossbred.  With this in mind we uphold high breeding ethics at Vanaheim and Rahkantra, hip scoring and fully health test every pairing before they are bred here in NZ as we want to ensure healthy, long lived Swedish Vallhunds that are genetically diverse as possible going forward into the future.  We try very hard to maintain a well-rounded SV who has temperament, type and working ability and are proud to have bred Swedish Vallhunds who are not only fulfilling their ancient role working on farms around NZ but also in agility, rally-o, sent work and canine CGC.

We are privileged to be working with some amazing international breeders who have the same driving passion for the breed that we do and are extremely grateful for their continual advice and guidance.  We are privileged to be working with exceptional imported lines and while we have bred the least number of puppies over my time in the breed, our Vanaheim and Rahkantra SV's are some of New Zealand's most successful Swedish Vallhunds inside and outside of the ring.
